Political career

Peterson was first elected to the House of Representatives on November 2, 2010. During the 2016 legislative session, Peterson served on the Business, Economic Development, and Labor Appropriations Subcommittee, the House Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Committee, and the House Revenue and Taxation Committee.
