Biography

Isacks was born in Montgomery County in the

Province of Pennsylvania The Province of Pennsylvania, also known as the Pennsylvania Colony, was a British North American colony founded by William Penn, who received the land through a grant from Charles II of England in 1681. The name Pennsylvania was derived from ...

and later moved to Winchester, Tennessee. He was elected as a Jackson Republican to the Eighteenth Congress and was re-elected as a Jacksonian to the Nineteenth through Twenty-second Congresses. He was in office from March 4, 1821 to March 3, 1833. He was chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Public Lands during the Twentieth and Twenty-first Congresses. He was an unsuccessful candidate for re-election in 1832. He owned slaves. He died in Winchester, Tennessee. The location of his place of interment is unknown.
