Early life

Iain Murray was educated in the

He transferred to the Army reserve in 1955 and resigned his commission the following year. After his military service, Murray studied Philosophy and History at the University of Durham, graduating with a BA in 1954. In 1955 he married Jean Ann Walters and became assistant minister at St. John's Free Church, Summertown, Oxford.
