History

The settlement of 'Gotingen' presumably developed as an Alemannic ancient village in the 6th/7th century.Göttinger Dorfgeschichte(n) -Ortschronik- Göttingen, as a 'modern' village, was first mentioned in the directory of the nearby Elchingen Abbey in 1225. On 1 April 1972, the village of Göttingen was incorporated into the neighbouring town of Langenau.
