Geography

Stampa has an area, , of . Of this area, 14.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 18.8% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.8% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (66.1%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains). The municipality is located in the Bergell sub-district of the Maloja district and is the administrative and cultural center of the sub-district.
