Rory has seen increasing use in females since the 1960s, especially in the United States. One notable example is Rory Kennedy (b. 1968), daughter of Robert F. Kennedy. It can alternatively be a nickname for Aurora (given name), "Aurora" or "Lorelei (name), Lorelai".
