El Bosque (Spanish language, Spanish for "the forest") is a communes of Chile, commune of Chile located in Santiago Province, Chile, Santiago Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region. The commune spans an area of .


Demographics

According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute (Chile), National Statistics Institute, El Bosque spans an area of and has 175,594 inhabitants (86,435 men and 89,159 women), and the commune is an entirely urban area. Administration

As a commune, El Bosque is a third-level administrative division of Chile administered by a municipal council, headed by an alcalde who is directly elected every four years. The 2012-2016 major is Sadi Melo Moya (Socialist Party of Chile, PS). The communal council has the following members: * Víctor Downey López (Socialist Party of Chile, PS) * Patricia Arriagada Núñez (Independent Democratic Union, UDI) * Margarita Urra Valerio (Communist Party of Chile, PC) * Sebastián Vega Umatino (Christian Democratic Party (Chile), DC) * Manuel Zuñiga Aguilar (Socialist Party of Chile, PS) * Luis Morales Ramírez (Party for Democracy (Chile), PPD) * Aliro Rojas Reyes (Socialist Party of Chile, PS) * Roberto Larenas Cuellar (National Renewal (Chile), RN) Within the electoral divisions of Chile, El Bosque is represented in the Chamber of Deputies of Chile, Chamber of Deputies by Tucapel Jiménez (Party for Democracy (Chile), PPD) and Iván Moreira (Independent Democratic Union, UDI) as part of the 27th electoral district, (together with La Cisterna and San Ramón, Chile, San Ramón). The commune is represented in the Senate of Chile, Senate by Soledad Alvear Valenzuela (Christian Democratic Party, PDC) and Pablo Longueira Montes (UDI) as part of the 8th senatorial constituency (Santiago-East).
