He married Giske Rasmussen in 1930. From 1948 to 1963, Erichsen was a member of the Oslo city council. He served as a deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament from Oslo during the 1954–1957 term. In 1963, he was appointed chairman of the board in the light rail company
