After a positive year local & overseas Steele entered into the Jamaican Olympic Trials for the 400m. He was fated to be the next Jamaican sensation.

Steele placed 2nd again in the semi finals with a time of 45.91 to qualify for the finals with the 6th best time, giving him lane 8.
