History

EDSA was founded in 1960 by American landscape architect Edward Durell Stone, Jr. After Stone, Jr.'s death in 2009, Douglas C. Smith, who had been with the firm since 1987, became president. The firm gained recognition when Stone, Jr. was appointed to the Commission of Fine Arts in 1971, serving for 12 years. In the 1960s, EDSA worked on resort and recreation projects in the Caribbean,
