On 10 June 1997, in accordance with Armenian Presidential Decree No. 747 on "Changes in Structure of the Government of the Republic of Armenia” the Ministry of Trade, Services and Tourism, the Ministry of Industry, and the Ministry of Economy were merged into one ministry: the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Armenia. On 16 March 2002, in accordance with Presidential Decrees No. 1063 and 1064, the Ministry of Industry and Trade was reorganized into the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development.
