He was previously renown as the Chairman of Indonesian Real Estate in 1992–1995 and the member of Indonesian People's Representative Council for three terms from 2000–2004, 2004–2009, and 2009–2013 under the Golkar Party. In 2013 Enggartiasto Lukita decided to join the
Nasdem Party The Nasdem Party ( id, Partai NasDem) is a political party in Indonesia. It is partly funded by media baron Surya Paloh who founded the similarly named organization, National Democrats ( id, Nasional Demokrat). Despite this, and logo similarity, N ...
which was declared by his previous partner in Golkar, Surya Paloh. He was appointed as the Minister of Trade during President Joko Widodo's second cabinet reshuffle.
