There were three Battles of Alcantara:
* Battle of Alcântara (1580) - Battle between Spain, Spanish invaders, led by the Fernando Álvarez de Toledo, 3rd Duke of Alba, Duke of Alba during the Portuguese dynastic crisis of the 16th century. Spain won and the crowns of both countries were personally united until 1640.
* Battle of Alcántara (1706) - Battle between British and French forces during the War of the Spanish Succession.
* Battle of Alcántara (1809) - An inconclusive battle during the Napoleonic Wars (the Peninsular War).
