Following the close of his college career, Teachey was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the 1984 NBA draft (40th pick overall). However, he chose to sign in Italy instead. Teachey played six seasons of professional basketball, primarily in Europe. He also had a short stint with the
