Leverage

In August 2022, CreditSights, a unit of Fitch Ratings, warned that Adani Group was "deeply over Leverage (finance), leveraged” and that its recent aggressive expansion had hurt the company's cash flow and credit. It also stated that a potential "worst-case scenario" could lead the company to end up in a debt trap and a potential default. The Adani Group did not comment on CreditSights' warning.

Tax evasion

In August 2017, Central Board of Excise and Customs, Indian customs alleged the Adani Group was diverting millions of funds from the company's books to Adani family tax havens overseas.
