He was arrested on 8 December 2017 for investigation of his mismanagement of PetroVietnam, resulting in a loss of 800 billion VND (35.28 million USD) from its investment in Oceanbank. On 22 January 2018 he was sentenced to 13 years in prison. He was appeared again on 14 and 15 December 2020 , for trial about violation managements.He's received 10 years in prison.Mr. Dinh La Thang was sentenced to 10 years in prison for high-speed violations in Ho Chi Minh City.
