Puerto Rican Spanish
Puerto Rican Spanish (''español puertorriqueño'' ) is the variety (linguistics), variety of the Spanish language as characteristically spoken in Puerto Rico and by millions of people of Puerto Rican people, Puerto Rican descent living in the United States and elsewhere. It belongs to the group of Caribbean Spanish variants and, as such, is largely derived from Canarian Spanish and Andalusian Spanish. Outside of Puerto Rico, the Puerto Rican accent of Spanish is also commonly heard in the United States Virgin Islands, US Virgin Islands and many US mainland cities like Orlando, Florida, Orlando, New York City, Philadelphia, Miami, Tampa, Florida, Tampa, Boston, Cleveland, Ohio, Cleveland, and Chicago, among others. However, not all stateside Puerto Ricans have knowledge of Spanish. The Latin script, also known as Roman script, is an alphabetic writing system based on the letters of the classical Latin alphabet, derived from a form of the Greek alphabet which was in use in the ancient Greek city of Cumae, in southern Italy ( Magna Grecia).
