City College, Kolkata
City College (or City College, Amherst Street, Kolkata) is a constituent undergraduate college of the University of Calcutta. Established in 1881, it is one of the heritage institutions of Kolkata, and played a prominent social role in the wake of the Bengal Renaissance of the nineteenth century. The college is located at 102/1, Raja Rammohan Roy Sarani (Amherst Street (Kolkata), Amherst Street), Kolkata-700009. It shares premises with Rammohan College (morning college) and Anandamohan College (evening college). Shakti Chattopadhyay
Shakti Chattopadhyay ( bn, শক্তি চট্টোপাধ্যায়, font=kalpurush, translit=Shokti Chôţţopaddhae) (25 November 1933 – 23 March 1995) was a Bengali poet and writer. Shakti Chattopadhyay was born in Jaynagar, to Bamanath Chattopadhyay and Kamala Devi. He lost his father at the age of four and was brought up by his maternal grandfather. He passed Matriculation Examination in 1951 and got admitted to the City College, Kolkata, City College to study commerce as his maternal uncle, who was a businessman and also his guardian, promised him a job of an accountant. In 1953, he passed Intermediate Commerce Examination, but gave up studying commerce and got admitted to the Presidency College, Kolkata, Presidency College (now Presidency University, Kolkata) with Honours in Bengali literature but he did not appear in the examination.
