	Sarcandra Glabra ''Sarcandra glabra'' is an herb native to Southeast Asia. It is also known as herba sarcandrae or glabrous sarcandra herb. It's common names include the nine-knotted flower and the bone-knitted lotus. Aromatic oils may be extracted from the leaves. This extract has been shown in mice to reduce immunologic attenuation due to stress. Morphology Leaf blade elliptic or ovate-lanceolate, 6–17 × 2–6 cm, leathery, margin sharply coarsely-serrate. Stamen baculate to terete; thecae shorter than connective. Stigma subcapitate. Fruit globose or ovoid, 3–4 mm in diam. Distribution The plant is distributed in Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Cambodia, Malaysia, India, Japan, Korea, the Philippines and, in China, Jiangxi, Anhui, Fujian, Guizhou, Guangxi, Hunan, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangdong, Zhejiang and other places, growing at an altitude of 420 meters to 1,500 meters in area, often grown in wet slopes and valleys of the forest shade. 	George Gardner (botanist) George Gardner (1810, Ardentinny – 1849, Kandy) was a Scottish biologist mainly interested in botany. Gardner's father was a gardener first to the Earl of Dunmore in Ardentinny, then from 1816 to the Earl of Eglinton at Ardrossan. In 1822, his parents moved to Glasgow where he attended the grammar-school and acquired a good knowledge of the Latin language. He began the study of medicine in the Andersonian university of Glasgow in 1829, eventually becoming a surgeon. In 1836, encouraged by the famed botanist William Jackson Hooker, he brought out a work entitled ''Musci Britannici, or Pocket Herbarium of British Mosses arranged and named according to Hooker’s "British Flora"''. 	Chloranthaceae Chloranthaceae is a family of flowering plants (angiosperms), the only family in the order Chloranthales. It is not closely related to any other family of flowering plants, and is among the early-diverging lineages in the angiosperms. They are woody or weakly woody plants occurring in Southeast Asia, the Pacific, Madagascar, Central and South America, and the West Indies. The family consists of four extant genera, totalling about 77 known species according to Christenhusz and Byng in 2016. Some species are used in traditional medicine.
