Discovery (Daft Punk Album)
''Discovery'' is the second studio album by French electronic music duo Daft Punk, released on 12 March 2001 by Virgin Records. It marks a shift from the Chicago house sound prevalent on their first studio record, ''Homework'' (1997), to a house style more heavily inspired by disco, post-disco, garage house, and R&B. Comparing their stylistic approach to their previous album, band member Thomas Bangalter described ''Discovery'' as an exploration of song structures and musical forms whereas ''Homework'' was "raw" electronic music. He also described ''Discovery'' as a reflection of the duo's childhood memories, when they listened to music with a more playful and innocent viewpoint. The album was recorded at Bangalter's home in Paris between 1998 and 2000. The album features extensive sampling; some samples are from older records, while others were recorded by Daft Punk playing live instruments themselves. Fellow electronic musicians Romanthony, Todd Edwards, and DJ Sneak ...

It was released on 1 June 1979 in the United Kingdom by Jet Records, where it topped record charts, and on 8 June in the United States on Jet through Columbia Records distribution. A music video album featuring all the songs being played by the band was then released on VHS in 1979, then re-released as part of the '' Out of the Blue: Live at Wembley'' DVD and VHS in 1998. Background ''Discovery'' was the band's first number 1 album in the UK, entering the chart at that position and staying there for five weeks. The album contained five hit songs in " Shine a Little Love", "Don't Bring Me Down", " Last Train to London", "Confusion" and " The Diary of Horace Wimp", many of which were heavily influenced by disco (in fact, Richard Tandy nicknamed the album, ''Disco Very''). "Don't Bring Me Down" would become one of their only two top three hits in the UK throughout their career ("Xanadu" ...

Discovery (law)
Discovery, in the law of common law jurisdictions, is a pre-trial procedure in a lawsuit in which each party, through the law of civil procedure, can obtain evidence from the other party or parties by means of discovery devices such as interrogatories, requests for production of documents, requests for admissions and depositions. Discovery can be obtained from non-parties using subpoenas. When a discovery request is objected to, the requesting party may seek the assistance of the court by filing a motion to compel discovery. History Discovery evolved out of a unique feature of early equitable pleading procedure before the English Court of Chancery: among various requirements, a plaintiff's bill in equity was required to plead "positions". These were statements of evidence that the plaintiff assumed to exist in support of his pleading and which he believed lay within the knowledge of the defendant. They strongly resembled modern requests for admissions, in that the de ...
