PEC Zwolle is a Dutch football club based in Zwolle, Netherlands. They play in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football, following relegation from the Eredivisie in the 2021–22 season. They have played in the Eredivisie for a total of 16 seasons, reaching sixth place in 2015. They won the KNVB Cup in 2014 and also reached the final in 1928, 1977 and 2015. This is the second incarnation of the club; its predecessor of the same name went bankrupt in 1990. The current club was founded immediately afterwards as FC Zwolle before renaming back to PEC Zwolle in 2012. The guilder ( nl, gulden, ) or florin was the currency of the Netherlands from the 15th century until 2002, when it was replaced by the euro. The Dutch name ''gulden'' was a Middle Dutch adjective meaning "golden", and reflects the fact that, when first introduced in 1434, its value was about equal to (i.e., it was on par with) the Italian gold florin. The Dutch guilder was a ''de facto'' reserve currency in Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries. Between 1999 and 2002, the guilder was officially a "national subunit" of the euro. Johan Hansma
Johan Hansma (born 11 June 1969) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a centre-back for PEC Zwolle and SC Heerenveen. Playing career Hansma played youth football for hometown club SVM Marknesse. He made his debut with PEC Zwolle on 20 August 1988 in a game against BV Veendam. He played for PEC Zwolle for six seasons, and played during their bankruptcy which saw their name change to FC Zwolle. He then moved to SC Heerenveen halfway through the 1993–94 season. He subsequently played ten seasons for Heerenveen during which Hansma won the 'Silver Shoe' in 1999 in the rankings of 'Footballer of the Year' behind winner Michael Mols. Bert Konterman
Bert Konterman (, born 14 January 1971) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a defender. Playing career Born in Rouveen, Konterman's career began with the local amateur club ''SC Rouveen'', then went on to play for clubs in the Dutch Eredivisie including FC Zwolle, Cambuur, Willem II. In summer 1998, he moved to Feyenoord on a four-year contract. Konterman was snapped up by Dick Advocaat in 2000 to play for Rangers for a fee of £4.5 million. Jakob Stam (; born 17 July 1972) is a Dutch professional football coach and former player. As a player, he played as a centre-back and is regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation. Stam played for several European clubs including PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, Lazio, Milan and Ajax before retiring in October 2007. As well as club trophies, he won several personal awards, including being voted the best defender in the 1998–99 and 1999–2000 UEFA Champions League, as well as being included in three consecutive PFA Team of the Year sides from 1999 to 2001. Foeke Booy
Foeke Booy (born 25 April 1962) is a Dutch football manager, executive, and former player. He serves as the technical manager of Cambuur. Club career Booy played for eight clubs in sixteen seasons. After hometown club Cambuur Leeuwarden, De Graafschap, PEC Zwolle and FC Groningen he opted for a Belgian adventure. He wore the shirt of Kortrijk, Club Brugge and Gent. During his time with Club Brugge, he won the national championship twice and the national cup. In 1994, he played for FC Utrecht. However, a serious knee injury made it almost impossible for Booy to continue to play football at the highest level.
