X Video Extension
The X video extension, often abbreviated as XVideo or Xv, is a video output mechanism for the X Window System. The protocol was designed by David Carver; the specification for version 2 of the protocol was written in July 1991. It is mainly used today to resize video content in the video controller hardware in order to enlarge a given video or to watch it in full screen mode. Without XVideo, X would have to do this scaling on the main CPU. That requires a considerable amount of processing power, which could slow down or degrade the video stream; video controllers are specifically designed for this kind of computation, so can do it much more cheaply. Similarly, the X video extension can have the video controller perform color space conversions, and change the contrast, brightness, and hue of a displayed video stream. XV (King's X Album)
''XV'' is the twelfth studio album by American metal band King's X, released in May 2008. It is the band's second album after 2005's ''Ogre Tones'' to chart on the ''Billboard'' 200, peaking at No. 145. The album also charted on the Independent Albums chart (peaking at No. 12) and ''Billboard'' Comprehensive Albums (peaking at No. 167). The Roman numeral XV means 15, as this is their 15th album, counting live albums and compilations. Xv (software)
xv is a shareware program written by John Bradley to display and modify digital images under the X Window System. While popular in the early 1990s ("XV is widely considered to be the preeminent image viewer for the X Window System"), no official releases have been made since December 1994. Bradley was unable to negotiate the LZW patent licence necessary for encoding the then-popular GIF format. The patent has now expired, so this legal constraint is no longer relevant. Until at least 2000, Bradley collected third-party updates to xv, for example, support for the PNG image format. These were published as source code patches only. Additional patches are still () created and maintained by volunteers. xv can be run from either the command line or through a graphical interface. XV (rapper)
Donavan LaMond Johnson (born July 9, 1985) better known by his stage name XV is an American rapper, singer and songwriter from Wichita, Kansas. He first gained major attention after the release of his twelfth mixtape ''Everybody's Nobody'', for which he received two awards from DJBooth.net. His name, XV, refers to the age (15) at which he began his musical career. On Monday July 26, 2010, XV announced that he had signed a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records via his Twitter page. Music career XV knew he wanted to pursue a career involving music. However, he did not become serious about the venture until a close friend died prior to him entering high school. The (also known as the Subaru XV until 2022) is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by Subaru since 2012. It is a successor to the Outback Sport in the US and Canada, and the Impreza XV globally.
