The United States Virgin Islands competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from July 27 to August 12, 2012. This was the nation's eleventh appearance at the Olympics, except the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, because of the United States boycott. The Virgin Islands Olympic Committee sent a total of 7 athletes to the Games, 4 men and 3 women, to compete in three different sports, tying the record (two athletes and sports less for each) set by Beijing. Two athletes from the Virgin Islands had competed in Beijing, including sprinter and three-time Olympic athlete LaVerne Jones-Ferrette. Track runner and Olympic semi-finalist Tabarie Henry was the nation's flag bearer at the opening ceremony. The women's 100 metres competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom was held at the Olympic Stadium on 3–4 August. Mayumi "Mimi" Roller (born March 11, 1991) is an actress from the United States Virgin Islands. She also represented the USVI in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England in the women's Laser Radial class. Among many other regattas, Mayumi also competed in the Kieler Woche 2014 together with the sailor Kayla McComb-Raab as Team MK Sailing in the boat class 49erFX. Cy Chris Thompson (born 1 July 1988 in Saint Thomas) is a Virgin Islands sailor. College He claimed the 2008 ICSA Men's Singlehanded National Championship in his sophomore year and finished runner-up at the 2010 national championship and placed in the top ten in his fourth berths at singlehanded nationals. He was the 2011 NEISA Sailor of the Year and was a finalist for the 2011 Everett Morris Memorial Trophy as College Sailor of the Year.
