Paramount Networks Europe, Middle East, Africa & Asia (EMEAA) is a division of Paramount International Networks which is fully owned by Paramount Global. The unit's headquarters are in Berlin, with additional offices in Madrid, Lisbon, Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Dubai, Johannesburg & Lagos, Budapest, Warsaw, Singapore, Stockholm, Tokyo, Beijing, Manila, Copenhagen, Prague, Helsinki, and Hong Kong SAR. The company was originally founded under the name MTV Networks Europe in 1987. In 2011, the division was renamed Viacom International Media Networks Europe. Also in 2011, Viacom created an Italian subdivision in order to purchase a 30% ownership stake in the Rainbow S.p.A. animation studio. It currently operates in 31 countries across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. MTV Taiwan
MTV Mandarin is a 24-hour music channel that airs Chinese and international music programs owned by Paramount Networks EMEAA. One of the first three MTV Asia channels along with MTV Asia and MTV India. MTV Mandarin has two different feeds (Taiwan & China). The channel broadcasts in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Indonesia. After 18 years of broadcasting, MTV China and Comedy Central Asia ceased transmission on 1 February 2021. MTV Japan (Music Television Japan) is the Japanese version of the cable television network based in Japan. It is a subsidiary of Paramount Networks Japan K.K., and was launched on November 15, 1993. It can be viewed on cable television, SKY PerfecTV!, SKY PerfecTV! e2 and IPTV. History MTV originally was a music block on Asahi Broadcasting Corporation from 1984 to 1988. Then it became a block on Tokyo Broadcasting System from 1989 to 1992. In 1992, Music Channel, Inc. acquired a license from Viacom to broadcast with the MTV name. MTV Germany is a German language free-to-air television channel operated by Paramount Global. The channel launched on 7 March 1997 as MTV Central, as part of a regionalisation strategy by Paramount Global, then MTV Networks Europe. Availability The channel primarily serves Germany, Austria and Switzerland, however it is widely available across Europe free-to-air. Between 2011 and 2017, the channel moved behind a paywall, limiting its availability mainly to German-speaking territories. Ian Robert Maxwell (born Ján Ludvík Hyman Binyamin Hoch; 10 June 1923 – 5 November 1991) was a Czechoslovak-born British media proprietor, Parliament of the United Kingdom, member of parliament (MP), suspected spy, and fraudster. Early in his life, Maxwell escaped from German occupation of Czechoslovakia, Nazi occupation in his native country, joined the Czechoslovak Legion (1939), Czechoslovak Army in exile during World War II and was decorated after active service in the British Army. The original incarnation of Viacom Inc. (derived from "Video & Audio Communications") was an American media conglomerate based in New York City. It began as CBS Television Film Sales, the broadcast syndication division of the CBS television network in 1952; it was renamed CBS Films in 1958, renamed CBS Enterprises in 1968, renamed Viacom in 1970, and spun off into its own company in 1971. Viacom was a distributor of CBS television series throughout the 1970s and 1980s, and also distributed syndicated television programs. ''Club 57'' is a television series developed by Rainbow SpA and Nickelodeon, which are both part of ViacomCBS. It was created by Catharina Ledoboer and produced by Iginio Straffi and Pierluigi Gazzolo. The series premiered on Rai Gulp in Italy on 15 April 2019, followed by its debut on Nickelodeon Latin America on 6 May 2019. The show follows a student from the 21st century named Eva ( Evaluna Montaner) who accidentally travels to the year 1957.
