Vacoas-Phoenix () also known as French: ''Villes Jumelles'' (Twin Cities), is a town in Mauritius, located in the Plaines Wilhems District, the eastern part also lies in the Moka District. The town is administered by the Municipal Council of Vacoas-Phoenix. The town lies between Quatre Bornes and Curepipe. History The towns of Vacoas and Phoenix fused in 1963. Vacoas-Phoenix fully became a municipality in 1968. Politics For the general elections the town is classified as the No 15 constituency known as ''La Caverne and Phoenix'' and the No 16 ''Vacoas and Floreal'' constituency. 2017 FIBA Under-16 African Championship
The 2017 FIBA Africa Under-16 Championship, alternatively the 5th Afrobasket U16, was an international basketball competition held in Vacoas-Phoenix, Mauritius from 13–22 July 2017. It served as the qualifier for the 2018 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup. Mali claimed their first-ever under-16 continental title by dethroning the defending champions Egypt in the final, 76–65. Both teams will represent FIBA Africa to the Under-17 Basketball World Cup next year. Quatre Bornes () also known as ''La Ville des Fleurs'' (The City of Flowers), is a town in Mauritius, located in the Plaines Wilhems District, the western part also lies in the Rivière Noire District. The town is administered by the Municipal Council of Quatre Bornes. Situated between the towns of Beau-Bassin Rose-Hill and Vacoas-Phoenix, Quatre Bornes is linked by roads to the north, east, south and west of Mauritius. According to the census made by Statistics Mauritius in 2015, the population of the town was at 77,308.
