Transperth
Transperth is the brand name of the public transport system serving the city and suburban areas of Perth, the state capital of Western Australia. It is managed by the Public Transport Authority (PTA), a state government organisation. Train operations are done by Transperth Train Operations, a division of the PTA. Bus operations are contracted out to Swan Transit, Path Transit and Transdev. Ferry operations are contracted out to Captain Cook Cruises. History In August 1986, the Metropolitan Transport Trust was rebranded as Transperth. Transperth Train Operations
Transperth Train Operations is a division of the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia. It is responsible for operating Perth’s urban passenger rail system, as part of the Transperth network. Perth's passenger rail network covers of track with 90 stations on 8 lines across the city's greater metropolitan area. Over the last three decades the rail network has undergone rapid expansion. Between 1981 and 2016 the network tripled in route length and was electrified. The Northern Suburbs Railway was opened in 1993 and was progressively extended, while the new Mandurah Line was opened in 2007. Rail patronage over this period grew from just 6.5 million passengers in 1981 to 60.6 million in 2017–18. The Airport Line was opened on 9 October 2022. Elizabeth Quay Bus Station
Elizabeth Quay Bus Station, formerly the Esplanade Busport, is a Transperth bus station, located at the southern edge of the Perth CBD in Western Australia, next to the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre and Elizabeth Quay railway station. It has 35 stands and is served by 55 Transperth routes operated by Path Transit, Swan Transit and Transdev WA. It is also served by South West Coach Lines services. Description Elizabeth Quay Bus Station is located west of Elizabeth Quay railway station, adjacent to Mounts Bay Road, the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre, and the Ernst & Young Building. There are bus access points to the north-west (Mounts Bay Road and Mills Street), north (Mounts Bay Road westbound, entry only), and south-east (Kwinana Freeway ramps and William Street). The passenger entrances are at the north and south ends of the upper level concourse, and there are multiple pedestrian bridges connecting the bus station to the buildings north of Mounts Bay Road. CircleRoute
The CircleRoute is a pair of circular bus routes operated by Transperth through Perth's suburbs. History The CircleRoute was introduced in two stages. On 16 February 1998 the first stage of the CircleRoute commenced operating between Fremantle and Oats Street stations via Murdoch station. It was operated by Swan Transit with Mercedes-Benz O305 buses in a special livery with purple bands blended into the green blocks of the standard colour scheme, with an elliptical shaped logo featuring two arrows in white. On 22 February 1999, the route was extended to become a 133 stop, 84 kilometre circular route. All four Perth contractors; Path Transit, Perth Bus, Southern Coast Transit and Swan Transit, operated services. Leederville Railway Station
Leederville railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network in Western Australia. It is located on the Joondalup line, 3.2 kilometres from Perth station serving the suburb of Leederville. History Leederville station opened on 20 December 1992 in the median strip of the Mitchell Freeway. In 2003, the contract for extending the platforms on seven Joondalup line stations, including Leederville station, was awarded to Lakis Constructions. The platforms on these stations had to be extended by to accommodate long six car trains, which were planned to enter service. Along with the extensions, the platform edges were upgraded to bring them into line with tactile paving standards. Leederville was the first station to begin being extended. Path Transit
Path Transit is an Australian bus company operating Transperth services under contract to the Public Transport Authority. It is a subsidiary of Keolis Downer. History On 29 September 1996, Path Transit commenced operating services in the Marmion and Wanneroo areas from depots in Joondalup and Karrinyup with 191 Mercedes-Benz and Renault buses. In January 1998, Path Transit gained further services in the Joondalup North area followed on 5 July 1998 by services in the Morley area. In 1998, a new depot was opened in Wangara. In May 2011, Path Transit lost the Joondalup contract area to Transdev WA and lost the Marmion area to Swan Transit, but retained operation of the Morley contract area. Swan Transit is an Australian bus company operating Transperth services under contract to the Public Transport Authority. It is a subsidiary of Transit Systems. History On 21 January 1996, Swan Transit commenced operating services in the Midland area with 43 buses. On 29 September 1996, Swan Transit commenced operating services in the Canning Vale and Southern River areas from depots in Canning Vale and Southern River with 119 Mercedes-Benz and Renault buses. Transdev WA is an Australian bus company operating Transperth bus services under contract to the Public Transport Authority. It is a subsidiary of Transdev Australasia. History On 29 September 1996, Transport Management Group Pty Limited (TMG), trading as Southern Coast Transit, commenced operating services in the Rockingham area from depots in Mandurah and Rockingham with 57 Mercedes-Benz and Renault buses. It was owned by Victorian bus operators the Donric Group and SkyBus. In August 1997, two Denning double decker coaches were acquired from AAT Kings and Australian Pacific Touring to operate a Mandurah to Perth service.
