''The Paris News'' is a newspaper based in Paris, Texas, covering the Northeast Texas counties of Lamar, Delta, Red River and Fannin, plus Choctaw County, Oklahoma. It publishes three days a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays). It is owned by Southern Newspapers Inc. History The paper traces its roots to ''The North Texan'', founded in 1869 by Addison Harvey Boyd (1835–1984), and a newspaper published by his younger brother, Austin Pollard Boyd (1843–1902). The younger Boyd bought the ''North Texan'' and merged the publications, running a daily newspaper known as the ''Paris Morning News'' until his death in 1902. One of A.P. Choctaw County, Oklahoma
Choctaw County is a county located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. As of the 2010 census, the population was 15,205. Its county seat is Hugo. Formerly part of the Choctaw Nation in Indian Territory, this county was reorganized and redefined in 1907, at the time of Oklahoma statehood. The ''Houston Post'' was a newspaper that had its headquarters in Houston, Texas, United States. In 1995, the newspaper shut down, and its assets were purchased by the '' Houston Chronicle''. History Gail Borden Johnson founded the ''Houston Post'' on February 19, 1880. He expanded the paper by acquiring the Houston ''Telegraph'', the legacy of the '' Telegraph and Texas Register'', which operated the first press in Texas after the Texas Revolution. Fannin County, Texas
Fannin County is a county in the far northeast of the U.S. state of Texas, on the border with Oklahoma. As of the 2020 census, its population was 35,662. The county seat is Bonham. The county was named for James Fannin, who commanded the group of Texans killed in the Goliad Massacre during the Texas Revolution. James Bonham (the county seat's namesake) sought Fannin's assistance for the Battle of the Alamo, but Fannin was unable to provide it. The county was created in 1837 and organized the next year.
