Special (Garbage Song)
"SPECIAL" is an alternative rock song written, performed and produced by Garbage , and was the third international single to be released from the band's platinum second album Version 2.0 . "Special" gained much attention in the music press upon the 1998 release of Version 2.0, as it contained a vocal interpolation of a lyric taken from "Talk of The Town" by The Pretenders . A moderate hit in the United Kingdom and Australia in October 1998, "Special" became a sleeper hit in the United States the following year. The song's success was marked by becoming nominated in the Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group categories at the 2000 Grammy Awards , and winning a Wisconsin Area Music Industry award for Song of the Year and a Citation of Achievement from the BMI Pop Awards . The sci-fi inspired music video for "Special" also received nominations from music industry award panels; winning a D to create a rapprochement between the "high-tech and low-down, the now sound and of golden memories" and wear musical references to the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Garbage recorded all of their work for the second album through a 48-track digital system digitally, direct to hard drives utilizing a 24bit Pro Tools rig

The Specials
THE SPECIALS, also known as THE SPECIAL AKA, are an English 2 Tone and ska revival band formed in 1977 in Coventry . Their music combines a "danceable ska and rocksteady beat with punk's energy and attitude". Lyrically they present a "more focused and informed political and social stance" than most other ska groups. The band wore mod -style "1960s period rude boy outfits (pork pie hats , tonic and mohair suits and loafers)". In 1980, the song "Too Much Too Young", the lead track on their _ The Special AKA Live! _ EP , reached No. 1 in the UK. In 1981, the unemployment-themed single "Ghost Town " also hit No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart . After seven consecutive UK Top 10 singles between 1979 and 1981, three members of the group abruptly left to form Fun Boy Three . Continuing on as "The Special AKA" (a name they used frequently on earlier Specials releases), a substantially revised Specials line-up issued new material through 1984, including the top 10 UK hit single " Free Nelson Mandela ". Afterwards, founder and songwriter Jerry Dammers dissolved the band and pursued political activism. The group reformed in 1993, and have continued to perform and record with varying line-ups (but without Dammers)

Special (lighting)
In stage lighting , a SPECIAL refers to a lighting instrument that is used for a very specific purpose, rather than being a part of a system of light such as an area light or color wash. It is typically, although not always, used alone, or at a higher level than the other instruments. Specials can also be used to highlight specific objects onstage, such as a piece of furniture, or to fill in gaps which are not covered by the less specific area lights. Specials can also be instruments used to create a very specific effect onstage, such as sunlight through a window, or the rotation of gobos . Specials are generally placed on their own circuit, dimmer, and channel so they can be independently controlled. _ This stagecraft related article is a stub . The Specials (film)
THE SPECIALS is a 2000 American superhero comedy film about a group of ordinary superheroes on their day off. According to the film, the Specials are the sixth or seventh most popular group of superheroes in the world. Unlike most superhero films, The Specials has almost no action and few special effects; instead it focuses on the average day-to-day lives of the heroes. The film was written by James Gunn , directed by Craig Mazin , and produced on a small $1 million budget, which is unusual for a superhero-themed film. The MPAA gave the film an R rating for strong language . PLOTThe superhero team the Specials has never achieved great popularity or prestige, partially because unlike other super teams it is not corporation-friendly and has been unable to secure merchandising deals. Without the corporate or private financial resources of more well-established teams, the Specials often get underrated villains, small disasters, and the occasional alien invasion to repel — all of which are deemed too low-priority for other superhero teams. Even the members with formidable powers have shortcomings that prevented a transition for the team as a whole. Because team-members such as the Strobe, Ms. Indestructible, The Weevil, Deadly Girl, Power Chick, Amok, Alien Orphan, and Eight all possess various social dysfunctions, they've never quite broken through the superhero glass ceiling

Television Special
A TELEVISION SPECIAL is a television program which temporarily interrupts programming normally scheduled for a given time slot . Sometimes, however, the term is given to a telecast of a theatrical film, such as _The Wizard of Oz _, which is not part of a regular television anthology series such as _NBC Saturday Night at the Movies _ (1961–1978). The term originally applied especially to major dramatized presentations of an hour or two which were broadcast during times normally occupied by episodes of one or more weekly television series , thus replacing the series for that specific week. In the 1960s, multi-part specials, over several days in a week, or on the same day for several weeks, evolved from this format, though these were more commonly called miniseries . The term "TV special" formerly applied more to dramas or musicals presented live or on videotape (such as _Peter Pan _) than to filmed presentations especially made for television, which were (and still are) designated as made-for-TV movies . Other forms of TV specials are one-time comedy or musical events, one-shot seasonal programs (e.g. Christmas television specials ), irregular sports events (e.g

Discounts And Allowances
DISCOUNTS AND ALLOWANCES are reductions to a basic price of goods or services. They can occur anywhere in the distribution channel , modifying either the manufacturer's list price (determined by the manufacturer and often printed on the package), the retail price (set by the retailer and often attached to the product with a sticker), or the list price (which is quoted to a potential buyer, usually in written form). There are many purposes for discounting, including to increase short-term sales, to move out-of-date stock, to reward valuable customers, to encourage distribution channel members to perform a function, or to otherwise reward behaviors that benefit the discount issuer. Some discounts and allowances are forms of sales promotion

Kit Car
A KIT CAR, also known as a COMPONENT CAR, is an automobile that is available as a set of parts that a manufacturer sells and the buyer then assembles into a functioning car. Usually, many of the major mechanical systems such as the engine and transmission are sourced from donor vehicles or purchased new from other vendors. Kits vary in completeness, consisting of as little as a book of plans, or as much as a complete set with all components included. There is a sub-set of the kit car, commonly referred to as a "re-body", in which a commercially manufactured vehicle has a new (often fiberglass) body put on the running chassis. Most times, the existing drive gear and interior are retained. These kits require less technical knowledge from the builder, and because the chassis and mechanical systems were designed, built, and tested by a major automotive manufacturer, a re-body can lead to a much higher degree of safety and reliability. The definition of a kit car usually indicates that a manufacturer constructs multiple kits of the same vehicle, each of which it then sells to a third party to build. A kit car should not be confused with a 'hand built' car or 'special' car, which is typically built from scratch by an individual

Intellectual Disability
INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY (ID), also known as GENERAL LEARNING DISABILITY, and MENTAL RETARDATION (MR), is a generalized neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by significantly impaired intellectual and adaptive functioning . It is defined by an IQ score under 70 in addition to deficits in two or more adaptive behaviors that affect everyday, general living. Once focused almost entirely on cognition , the definition now includes both a component relating to mental functioning and one relating to individuals' functional skills in their environments. As a result of this focus on the person's abilities in practice, a person with an unusually low IQ may not be considered to have intellectually disability. Intellectual disability is subdivided into syndromic intellectual disability, in which intellectual deficits associated with other medical and behavioral signs and symptoms are present, and non-syndromic intellectual disability, in which intellectual deficits appear without other abnormalities. Down syndrome and fragile X syndrome are examples of syndromic intellectual disabilities. Intellectual disability affects about 2–3% of the general population. Seventy-five to ninety percent of the affected people have mild intellectual disability. Non-syndromic or idiopathic cases account for 30–50% of cases. About a quarter of cases are caused by a genetic disorder , and about 5% of cases are inherited from a person\'s parents
