Slovene Riviera
The Slovene Riviera ( sl, Slovenska obala) is the coastline of Slovenia, located on the Gulf of Trieste, by the Adriatic Sea. It is part of the Istrian peninsula and is 46.6 km long. The region comprises the towns of Koper and Piran with Portorož, and the municipality of Izola. It is a seaside tourist destination, with a vibrant multiethnic Slovenian and Italian heritage. Geography Located in Slovene Istria, the Riviera belongs to the Coastal–Karst Statistical Region and to the historical region of the Slovene Littoral. It is bordered to the north by Italy and to the south by Croatia. The northernmost point is the headland of Debeli Rtič, by the Gulf of Koper; and the southernmost one is the village of Sečovlje, by the Gulf of Piran, located close the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park. Gulf Of Koper
The Gulf of Koper or Koper Bay ( sl, Koprski zaliv, hr, Koprski zaljev, it, Golfo di Capodistria) is located in the northern part of the Adriatic Sea, and is a part of the Gulf of Trieste. Overview The gulf, named after the city of Koper, is part of the Slovene Riviera and is entirely located in Slovenian territory. Crossed by the river Rižana, it is 18 km2 large and spans from Debeli Rtič, next to the borders with the Italian town of Muggia; to Rt Madona, a cape in the town of Piran, that is also the northernmost point of the Gulf of Piran. The towns of Koper, Izola and Piran (the northern shore), along with the villages of Ankaran, Bertoki, Jagodje, Dobrava, Strunjan and Fiesa, are located by the gulf. The coast, also known as the coastline or seashore, is defined as the area where land meets the ocean, or as a line that forms the boundary between the land and the coastline. Strunjan
Strunjan (; it, Strugnano) is a settlement in the Municipality of Piran in the Littoral region of Slovenia. Geography The Strunjan Nature Reserve, located along a 4 km stretch of Adriatic coast to the north of the settlement, is the longest section of unspoiled coastline in the entire Gulf of Trieste. Seča
Seča (; it, Sezza) is a settlement in the Municipality of Piran in the Littoral region of Slovenia. Name The Slovene name of the settlement was changed from ''Sveti Jernej'' (literally, 'Saint Bartholomew') to ''Seča'' in 1958. Ankaran
Ankaran (; it, Ancarano ) is a town in the Municipality of Ankaran, located near the border with Italy, in the Littoral region of Slovenia. It is less than 5 km from the Italian town of Muggia near Trieste, about 2.5 km from the Italian-Slovenian border, 6.5 km from Koper, and 33 km from the nearest Croatian town, Buje. In the entire municipality both Slovenian and Italian are official languages.
