The twenty-first season of ''Saturday Night Live'', an American sketch comedy series, originally aired in the United States on NBC between September 30, 1995, and May 18, 1996. History ''SNL'' once again dodged cancellation from season 20's low ratings and scathing reviews about the show's decline in quality. The cast was mostly overhauled, new writers were brought in, and Beth McCarthy Miller took over as director. The season was home to the Rage Against the Machine incident. James E. Breuer (born June 21, 1967) is an American stand-up comedian, actor, musician, and radio host. John Adam Belushi (January 24, 1949 – March 5, 1982) was an American comedian, actor, and musician, best known for being one of the seven original cast members of the NBC sketch comedy show ''Saturday Night Live'' (''SNL''). The tenth season of ''Saturday Night Live'', an American sketch comedy series, originally aired in the United States on NBC between October 6, 1984, and April 13, 1985. Only 17 episodes were produced due to a writers' strike and budget constraints. Changes to format This season also featured a new opening sequence produced by Charlex (who also created The Cars' "You Might Think" video earlier in 1984), depicting the ''SNL'' cast as giants in and around New York City landmarks.
