Rolo Tomassi are an English band from Sheffield. Their name is taken from a dialogue in the film ''L.A. Confidential''. The band is known for their strong DIY ethic and chaotic style and performances. They are currently signed to MNRK Heavy. The band released two albums on Hassle Records: '' Hysterics'' (2008) and the Diplo-produced ''Cosmology'' (2010). After creating their own record label in 2011 called Destination Moon, they released ''Eternal Youth'', a compilation album of B-sides, remixes and rarities from throughout their career, and their third album '' Astraea'', in 2012 with the first line-up change in their career. They then released two albums on Holy Roar Records: '' Grievances'' (2015) and '' Time Will Die and Love Will Bury It'' (2018), before moving to their current label to release their sixth album, ''Where Myth Becomes Memory'' (2022). ''Astraea'' is the third studio album by British mathcore band Rolo Tomassi. It was released on 5 November 2012 in the United Kingdom through Destination Moon, the band's own record label. In interviews, the band described the composition of the album as being much more accessible and direct than their previous albums, while retaining the technical and experimental elements of their typical sound. The album was produced by Jason Sanderson, the producer of Rolo Tomassi's first album Hysterics. This is the band's first release with Chris Cayford and Nathan Fairweather in their line-up after the departure of Joseph Thorpe and Joe Nicholson. The album was recorded in various locations across Nottingham, United Kingdom including James Spence's house and The Bodega club night venue. Jane's Addiction is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1985. The band consists of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery. Jane's Addiction was one of the first bands from the early 1990s alternative rock movement to gain both mainstream media attention and commercial success in the United States. Pulled Apart by Horses are an English alternative rock band from Leeds. They formed in early 2008. The band were signed by Transgressive Records in 2009, and released their debut self-titled album '' Pulled Apart by Horses'' on 21 June 2010. In August 2011, they went into Monnow Valley Studio in Wales to record with record producer Gil Norton, and their second album ''Tough Love'' was released to critical acclaim on 20 January 2012. Holy Roar Records was an independent record label run by Alex Fitzpatrick. The label began in January 2006 and put out its first release in June 2006, the Phoenix Bodies album, ''Raise the Bullshit flag''. Fitzpatrick originally joked that the name was derived from a vision he had whilst on the hallucinogen LSD. According to Fitzpatrick, the name “Holy Roar” was derived from a Torche song with the same title. History Holy Roar Records was formed at the beginning of 2006, when Alex Fitzpatrick moved to London. After previously trialling out “thecommunion” with friends in Birmingham during his university days, he and his girlfriend at the time, Ellen Godwin decided to start up a record label. 3 Track Demo
The ''3 Track Demo'' or the "First Demo" by Rolo Tomassi is a handmade demo CD-R recorded and released at the beginning of 2005 and was the first release on the band's own label; "Mayday". The entire CD-R was recorded inside Edward Dutton's shed. The CD-R was very limited and eventually sold out completely. After the original demo CD-Rs had sold out, the band handmade another two variations of the CD-R, each with completely new artwork and packaging. Only 50 copies of the original CD-R were pressed, each with different coloured cover art and each at very limited availability. 10 pink covers were made, 10 green covers, 15 blue covers and 15 red covers. The second pressing of the demo is a 3" CD-R inside a plastic wallet. Only 50 copies of these were made. The third and final pressing of the demo is often named the "Angel Demo"; a plain white CD-R with the band's name written on to in blue ink.
