Ringling College Of Art And Design
Ringling College of Art and Design (RCAD) is a private art and design school in Sarasota, Florida. It was founded by Ludd M. Spivey as an art school in 1931 as a remote branch of Southern College but separated by 1933. History The origins of the college go back to when the President of Southern College (which is now called Florida Southern College) Dr. Ludd M. Spivey wanted to get the support of John Ringling for his college. Spivey learned that Ringling did not have an interest in helping Southern College, was almost broke and wanted to start his own art school on the grounds of his museum. The two discussed the idea of creating an art college before reaching the agreement that they would open the school in Sarasota as a branch of Florida Southern. Brandon Oldenburg
Brandon Oldenburg is an American filmmaker and illustrator. Career He was an early employee of Reel FX Creative Studios (1995), doing a combination of design and special effects for television and film. Serving as Senior Creative director for 15 years, he worked with such clients as Troublemaker Studios, Pixar, Disney, DreamWorks and Blue Sky Studios. From 1998 to 2009, Oldenburg oversaw a joint venture with William Joyce and Reel FX. Oldenburg and Joyce's other collaborations include Halloween decor for Martha Stewart, Parade Floats for Disney and Title Design for feature films. Blondie (comic Strip)
''Blondie'' is an American comic strip created by cartoonist Chic Young. The comic strip is distributed by King Features Syndicate, and has been published in newspapers since September 8, 1930. The success of the strip, which features the eponymous blonde and her sandwich-loving husband, led to the long-running '' Blondie'' film series (1938–1950) and the popular '' Blondie'' radio program (1939–1950). Chic Young wrote and drew ''Blondie'' until his death in 1973, when creative control passed to his son Dean Young. John Marshall (cartoonist)
John Marshall is an American cartoonist, best known as the artist of the '' Blondie'' comic strip since 2005. He works closely with scripter Dean Young, son of the strip's creator, Chic Young. Born in Waverly, New York, John Marshall took an interest in cartooning at an early age. He was bored during the summer between the fourth and fifth grades and began drawing '' Peanuts'' characters on brown paper bags. When he was 14, his career as a cartoonist was jump-started by his grandmother who urged him to send cartoons to '' Parade''. On his first try, ''Parade'' bought one. Andrew "Android" Jones is an American digital and multimedia artist whose work focuses on fantasy and psychedelic art. Tim Jaeger (born August 6, 1979) is an American artist. He currently lives and works in Sarasota, Florida. Early life and education Jaeger was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan as the 4th of 5 children to an Episcopal priest. At a young age Jaeger moved to Paducah, Kentucky. In 1998, Jaeger, relocated to Sarasota, Florida to earn his bachelors of arts from the Ringling College of Art and Design. Rooster series Jaeger began the "CS" series of rooster during an artist residency in Moncaret, France in 2008. Bret Iwan
Bret William Iwan (born September 10, 1982) is an American voice actor and illustrator. He has been the fourth official voice of Mickey Mouse following the death of Wayne Allwine in May 2009. Early life Iwan was born on September 10, 1982, and raised in Pasadena, California; he is the son of Bill and Fiona Iwan. He attended LeRoy High School in Le Roy, Illinois, from 1996–2000. He graduated from the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, in 2004. Iwan was previously an illustrator at Hallmark. Career Iwan was hired to voice Mickey Mouse and replace Wayne Allwine after the latter died on May 18, 2009. They never had the chance to meet each other. David Reed Bromstad (born August 17, 1973) is an American designer and television personality. In 2006, he became the winner of the debut season of '' HGTV Design Star''. Marie Selby Botanical Gardens
The Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is a botanical garden located at 900 South Palm Avenue in Sarasota, Florida. The Gardens are located on the grounds of the former home of Marie and William Selby.
