The Sauldre (, ) is a long river in central France, a right tributary of the Cher. Its source is near the village of Montigny, southwest of Sancerre. Nançay
Nançay () is a commune in the Cher department in central France. Geography The village is located south of the Sologne and northeast of Vierzon. The Rère flows southwest through the middle of the commune. History Its name comes from Nanciacos and first appeared in 1010 (Acts of the Abbot Engilbert). The territory belonged successively to the County of Sancerre and the area of La Chatre. Joan of Arc stayed there, leaving her name to the ''spring maiden.'' Its castle dates from the fifteenth century, and was rebuilt during the Renaissance. Population Sights *The Nançay Radio Observatory, north of the town. Ménétréol-sur-Sauldre (, literally ''Ménétréol on Sauldre'') is a commune in the Cher department in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. Geography An area of lakes, forestry and farming comprising the village and a hamlet situated in the valley of the petite Sauldre river, some north of Bourges at the junction of the D924, D12 and the D79 roads. The Petite Sauldre flows westward through the middle of the commune; the village lies on its right bank. The Rère flows northwestward, then southwestward, through the heavily-wooded southern part of the commune. Presly () is a commune in the Cher department in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. Geography A large area of streams, lakes, forestry and farming comprising the village and several hamlets situated some north of Bourges at the junction of the D12, D58 and the D30 roads. The river Rère has its source near the hamlet of Sommerère in the southeastern part of the commune. It flows northwest through the middle of the commune, enters the territory of Ménétréol-sur-Sauldre and flows back southwest in the northwestern part of Presly.
