Penang ( ms, Pulau Pinang, is a Malaysian state located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia, by the Malacca Strait. Seberang Perai
Seberang Perai is a city in the Malaysian state of Penang. It is situated on the Malay Peninsula opposite Penang Island, bordering Kedah to the north and east and Perak to the south. Its city centre is located in Butterworth, while its local authority, the Seberang Perai City Council, is centred near Bukit Mertajam. , Seberang Perai had a population of 815,767, making it the second most populous city in Malaysia. Penang Hill is a hill resort comprising a group of peaks near the center of Penang Island, Malaysia. It is located within the Air Itam suburb, west of the center of George Town. Penang Hill is also known by the Malay name ''Bukit Bendera'', which actually refers to Flagstaff Hill, the most developed peak. One of the peaks is known as Strawberry Hill, which was also the name of a house owned by Francis Light, founder of Penang colony. Penang Hokkien (; Tâi-lô: ''Pin-siânn Hok-kiàn-uā''; ; ) is a local variant of Hokkien spoken in Penang, Malaysia. It is spoken as a mother tongue by 63.9% of Penang's Chinese community, and also by some Penangite Indians and Penangite Malays as a third language spoken by these two other ethnic groups. It was once the '' lingua franca'' among the majority Chinese population in Penang, Kedah, Perlis and northern Perak. The Straits Settlements were a group of British territories located in Southeast Asia. Headquartered in Singapore for more than a century, it was originally established in 1826 as part of the territories controlled by the British East India Company, the Straits Settlements came under British Raj control in 1858 and then under direct British control as a Crown colony on 1 April 1867. Ahmad Fuzi bin Abdul Razak (born 8 January 1949) is a Malaysian diplomat who has served as the 8th Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Penang since 1 May 2021. Education Ahmad Fuzi attended primary and secondary education in Penang. He obtained a degree of Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) from the University of Malaya in 1972 and a Certificate in Diplomacy from the University of Oxford in 1974. "Untuk Negeri Kita" ( Jawi: اونتوق نڬري كيت, ; "For Our State") is the state anthem of the Malaysian state of Penang. It was written by Penang born composer and jazz musician James W. Boyle. The anthem was subsequently played for the first time on 22 December 1972, during the birthday celebrations of the then Governor of Penang ( Malay: ''Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang''), Tun Syed Sheh Hassan Barakbah. Originally played to a slower tempo, the state anthem of Penang was modified in 1993 to its current, faster pace.
