Ludwig Scotty
Ludwig Derangadage Scotty (born 20 June 1948) is a Nauruan politician who twice served as President of Nauru and was Speaker of Parliament five times between 2000 and 2016. He served as president from 29 May 2003 to 8 August 2003 and again from 22 July 2004 until his ousting in a vote of no confidence on 19 December 2007. He was elected as president in 2003, again from November 2010 to April 2013, and from June 2013 to June 2016. Background and earlier career Scotty grew up in Anabar in the north of Nauru; he attended secondary school from 1960 until 1964 and studied law at the University of the South Pacific in the Fijian capital city Suva. Asterio Appi is a Nauruan politician. Early life and education Asterio Appi studied abroad in Taiwan. He graduated from the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology from the Department of Tropical Agriculture and International Cooperation in 2011. Career In March 2016, Appi resigned as director of quarantine at the Department of Justice and Border Control. In the 2016 parliamentary election, Appi was elected to represent the Boe Constituency. He was elected alongside Baron Waqa. After the election, he served as deputy speaker, under Speaker Cyril Buraman. Martin Hunt (politician)
Martin Porky Hunt is a Nauruan politician. Hunt has been a member of Nauruan Parliament and Minister Assisting the President of Nauru and Minister of Finance of Nauru since 29 August 2019. He still holds these positions as of August 2022. Hunt studied economics, history and politics at the University of the South Pacific between 1989 and 1991 and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree. In March 2008, Hunt was replaced by Clarissa Jeremiah as Nauruan Consul General based in Brisbane, Australia. Hunt then worked, as Chief Executive Officer of the state-owned Nauru Rehabilitation Corporation (2012 to 2014) and as Secretary for Finance at the Nauruan government (2013 to 2019). Hunt ran for the first time as an MP in the 2019 Nauruan parliamentary election in the Boe Constituency and came first out of five candidates, ahead of incumbent MPs Asterio Appi and Baron Waqa and former MP Mathew Batsiua. Maverick Eoe (born 26 March 1987) is a Nauruan politician. Career Before entering politics, Eoe competed in powerlifting. In 2007, Eoe represented Nauru at the South Pacific Games. As of 2019, he was the Nauru Powerlifting Federation Secretary-General. By 2017, Eoe worked as a pleader in the Office of the Solicitor General. In May 2019, he resigned his position to pursue politics. In the 2019 parliamentary election, Eoe was elected to represent the Anabar Constituency. He was elected alongside Pyon Deiye. The Cabinet of Nauru is the executive branch of the government of the Republic of Nauru, a small island nation in the Pacific Ocean. Article 17 (1.) of the Constitution of Nauru provides for the "executive authority of Nauru" to be vested in "a Cabinet constituted as provided by this Part" with the "general direction and control of the government of Nauru", specified in Article 17 (2.) as being "collectively responsible" to the Parliament of Nauru.
