Oakland is the largest city and the county seat of Alameda County, California, United States. A major West Coast port, Oakland is the largest city in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, the third largest city overall in the Bay Area and the eighth most populated city in California. With a population of 440,646 in 2020, it serves as the Bay Area's trade center and economic engine: the Port of Oakland is the busiest port in Northern California, and the fifth busiest in the United States of America. Libby Schaaf
Elizabeth Beckman Schaaf (born November 12, 1965) is an American politician who has been Mayor of Oakland, California since 2015. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served on the Oakland City Council. Schaaf won the November 4, 2014 Oakland mayoral election in the 14th round in ranked choice voting with 62.79% of the vote. Schaaf won re-election in 2018 with a 27% margin. Early life and education Schaaf was born in Oakland, California, on November 12, 1965. Her mother was a flight attendant. California's 13th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California. Barbara Lee, a Democrat, has represented this district since January 2013. The 13th district no longer consists of the northwestern portion of Alameda County. Cities in the district included Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, Piedmont, and San Leandro. With a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of D+40, it was the most Democratic district in California.
