Mushroomhead is an American heavy metal band from Cleveland, Ohio. Formed in 1993 in the Cleveland Warehouse District, the band is known for their avant-garde sound and horror film-inspired imagery which features masks and costumes as well as their unique live shows usually performed at smaller venues. Mushroomhead has sold over two million media units worldwide, and has released eight full-length albums and 15 music videos. Over their lifetime, Mushroomhead has gone through many changes in band lineups, with drummer Steve Felton being the only consistent member. XX (Mushroomhead Album)
''XX'' (pronounced ''Double X'') is a compilation album by American metal band Mushroomhead, released in 2001. It was originally released through Eclipse Records, where Mushroomhead took classic tracks and remixed them. ''XX'' was later re-released on Universal Records in December of the same year. ''XX'' contains tracks from the band's three independently released albums – ''Mushroomhead'', ''Superbuick'' and '' M3''. Being the first ever Mushroomhead album released on a major label, ''XX''s re-release on Universal Records introduced Mushroomhead on a national and international level, while previously being just a regionally-known band. Jason Popson
Jason Jonathan Popson (born November 2, 1971) is an American vocalist and rapper for metal band Mushroomhead taking the stage name J Mann. Prior to his initial departure from the band he was identified by his face paint, which was based on the film ''Dead Presidents''. Since 2014, he has worn a mask like the rest of the band. Biography Popson left Mushroomhead in mid-2004 due to being overworked and his father's terminal illness. Though it was previously confirmed that Popson would be featured on Mushroomhead's new studio album '' Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children'', it was revealed in an interview with Mushroomhead's lead singer Jeffrey Nothing that he would no longer be on the album. Jeffrey Hatrix
Jeff Hatrix, also known as Jeffrey Nothing (born Jeffrey Lewis Hetrick), is an American musician, best known as the former clean vocalist for the heavy metal band Mushroomhead. His nickname comes from a scene in '' Blue Velvet''. With a wide variety of face paint and mask designs, Jeffrey's most known look is that of a butcher. However, he revealed a new look in the music video of "Your Soul Is Mine", showing a tan skin mask that somewhat resembles the infamous Leatherface from the '' Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies''. Two of his masks were made from face-molds of famous actors Christopher Lloyd and Bela Lugosi. His most recent incarnation is that of a mask resembling human hands. Superbuick
''Superbuick'' is the second album from heavy metal band Mushroomhead. The album was released independently in 1996. Most of the songs were later remastered on '' XX'' which was initially released by Eclipse Records, then through Universal Records after some slight modifications and two additional songs. This is their first album with Pig Benis on bass and the last with DJ Virus on samples/programming. Previous bassist (and Pig Benis' brother) Mr. Murdernickel has songwriting credits for a few tracks, as revealed when the songs were recorded and released again for ''XX''. The album was repressed in 2002 along with their self-titled album and M3, though some major retailers do not carry them. All three can be purchased at live shows. ''XIII'' is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Mushroomhead, released on October 14, 2003. The album reached No. 40 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and sold 400,000 copies worldwide making it the band's most successful album to date. It is the second Mushroomhead album to be distributed through a major label, and it was also the debut release for then-new guitarists Bronson and Gravy, as well as turntablist/sampler Stitch. ''XIII'' includes the single "Sun Doesn't Rise". Its music video was directed by Vincent Marcone. The video aired frequently on ''Headbangers Ball'' upon release. The track "Sun Doesn't Rise" was also featured on the ''Freddy vs. Jason'' soundtrack. Waylon Reavis
Waylon Reavis (born September 19, 1978) is an American musician best known for being a former vocalist for American heavy metal band Mushroomhead. He was in Mushroomhead from 2004-2015 and with them released three albums: Savior Sorrow (2006), Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children (2010), and Righteous and the Butterfly (2014). He has also performed vocals for the Cleveland-based band Tenafly Viper and the alternative rock band 3 Quarters Dead. Reavis starred in the 2011 movie horror ''13th Sign''. He was a featured vocalist on the song "Open Wide" by Black Flood Diesel, "Personal Demons in the Void" by Underlined, and "Letting Go" by Amerakin Overdose. In September 2016, Reavis announced that his new project A Killer's Confession had signed to Megadeth bassist David Ellefson's EMP Label Group, and that their debut album ''UNBROKEN'' would be released in 2017. John Sekula
John Sekula (January 14, 1969 – October 28, 2010) was the original guitarist for heavy metal band Mushroomhead. Biography Also known as J.J. Righteous, Sekula was mostly identified as wearing an Ace Frehley mask, a welding mask, a troll-like monster mask and a Ghostface mask. He was replaced by Marko "Bronson" Vukcevich in 2001 after several issues with drugs. Sekula also played guitar for both State of Conviction and Unified Culture who are/were fronted by Mushroomhead vocalist Jason Popson. Death On October 28, 2010, Sekula suffered a massive heart failure and subsequently died. He was 41 years old. Steve "Skinny" Felton is an American musician, most notable for being the co-founder, leader, and drummer of metal band Mushroomhead. He was also the drummer of the bands Hatrix, (216), Tenafly Viper and Scelestus. His other projects include Detroit Ave and 10,000 Cadillacs with fellow Mushroomhead member Jason "J Mann" Popson. Dave Felton
David Felton (born 1967), known professionally as Gravy, is an American guitarist who is best known as a member of the Cleveland, Ohio-based heavy metal band Mushroomhead. He currently plays in another Cleveland-based heavy metal band KRIADIAZ. Biography He also plays guitar for a metal cover band called S.O.S., a short stint in Jeff Hatrix's hair metal band Purgatory, Hatrix, and for the hardcore band (216). Gravy's brother Steve Felton plays drums for Mushroomhead. Gravy wears a mummy-like mask based on the character from a horror movie with Xs on it (which are often painted with different colors of make up.) Dave has finished a solo project CD titled "Daves Heavy Duty Demo" and has recorded several tracks with Mushroomhead frontman, J Mann.
