Mary Gardner Belk
Mary Gardner Belk (born October 5, 1956 ) is a Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's eighty-eighth House district, which includes portions of Southeast Mecklenburg County. 2017 was her first year in North Carolina House. In the 2017–2018 session, Belk served on the Transportation, Banking, and Justice and Public Safety Appropriations Committees. Personal life Family Representative Belk lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. She and her husband, Ralph Belk Jr., have four adult children. Her oldest son, Ralph Belk III, serves as her legislative assistant. Education Belk graduated from Garinger High School in 1974 and studied police science before dedicating time to raising her children. Garinger High School
Garinger High School (sometimes referred to simply as Garinger or The G) is a high school located in Charlotte, North Carolina. History Garinger was in essence the relocation of Central High School, making it one of the oldest remaining schools in Charlotte. The school's origins date back to 1908–09, when the class of 1909 received their diplomas in the first graduation of Charlotte High School. In 1920, Charlotte High School relocated to a larger building on East Morehead Street and was re-named Alexander Graham High School. In 1923, a new school building located on Elizabeth Avenue opened as Central High School. Central received all students who were attending Alexander Graham High. In 1959, Central High moved to its current facility on Eastway Drive and was renamed Garinger High School in honor of Dr. Elmer H. Rob Bryan
Robert P. Bryan III (born June 4, 1971) is an American politician and attorney serving as a member of the North Carolina Senate for the 39th district. A Republican, he served as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives from Mecklenburg County from 2013, when he defeated long-time Democratic incumbent Martha Alexander, until 2016, when he was defeated by Democratic candidate Mary Gardner Belk.
