Malolos, officially the City of Malolos ( fil, Lungsod ng Malolos), is a 1st class component city and capital of the province of Bulacan, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 261,189 people. It is the capital city of the province of Bulacan as the seat of the provincial government. The city is north of Manila, the capital city of the Philippines. It is one of the major suburbs conurbated to Metro Manila, situated in the southwestern part of Bulacan, in the Central Luzon Region (Region 3) in the island of Luzon and part of the Metro Luzon Urban Beltway Super Region. Barasoain Church
Barásoain Church (official title: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish) is a Roman Catholic church built in 1888 in Malolos, Bulacan. It is about 42 kilometers from Manila. Having earned the title as the "Cradle of Democracy in the East, the most important religious building in the Philippines", and the site of the First Philippine Republic, the church is proverbial for its historical importance among Filipinos. Etymology The name "''Barásoain''" was derived from Barásoain in Navarre, Spain, which the missionaries found to be strikingly similar to the place in Malolos. Ma-i or Maidh (also spelled Ma'I, Mai, Ma-yi or Mayi; Baybayin: ; Hanunoo: ; Hokkien ; Mandarin ) was an ancient sovereign state located in what is now the Philippines. Its existence was first documented in 971 in the Song dynasty documents known as the '' History of Song'', and it was also mentioned in the 10th century records of the Bruneian Empire. Elections in the Philippines are of several types. The president, vice-president, and the senators are elected for a six-year term, while the members of the House of Representatives, governors, vice-governors, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial board members), mayors, vice-mayors, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod/ members of the Sangguniang Bayan (city/municipal councilors), barangay officials, and the members of the Sangguniang Kabataan (youth councilors) are elected to serve for a three-year term. Bulacan Provincial Capitol
The Bulacan Provincial Capitol is the seat of the provincial government of Bulacan in the Philippines. History The Bulacan Provincial Capitol was built in 1930 during the administration of Bulacan Governor José Padilla Sr. on a parcel of land donated by Spanish American Antonio Bautista. The capitol was destroyed during World War II but was rebuilt in June 1950 under the tenure of Governor Fortunato Halili. The building was closed in August 2017 for a major renovation which was completed in 2018 under Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado. The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) is the local legislative body of a city governments in the Philippines.
