Lost Work
A lost work is a document, literary work, or piece of multimedia produced some time in the past, of which no surviving copies are known to exist. It can only be known through reference. This term most commonly applies to works from the classical world, although it is increasingly used in relation to modern works. A work may be lost to history through the destruction of an original manuscript and all later copies. Works—or, commonly, small fragments of works—have survived by being found by archaeologists during investigations, or accidentally by anybody, such as, for example, the Nag Hammadi library scrolls. Works also survived when they were reused as bookbinding materials, quoted or included in other works, or as palimpsests, where an original document is imperfectly erased so the substrate on which it was written can be reused. The Lost (band)
The Lost was an American garage rock and psychedelic band from Plainfield, Vermont who were active in the Boston rock scene 1960s. They were initially an interracial rock band, one of the few at the time, and, along with the Remains and the Rockin' Ramrods, later became one of the most popular live acts in Boston, landing a contract with Capitol Records. In spite of having a regional hit with their first record, they were unable to find greater commercial success and broke up in 1967. In the intervening years their work has come to the attention of garage rock collectors and enthusiasts with the release of the anthology, ''Early Recordings and Lost Tapes,'' on Arf! Arf! Records. ''Lost: Via Domus'' (loosely "The Way Home" in Latin; marketed as ''Lost: The Video Game'' in Europe) is a video game based on the ABC television series ''Lost''. The game was released for the Microsoft Windows operating system, and the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video game consoles in February 2008, after the third season of the series. In ''Via Domus'', players control Elliott Maslow, a survivor of the plane crash that ''Lost'' revolves around. Although Elliott is not featured on the series, the game contains many characters from the show, as well as many locations from ''Lost''s mysterious island. Lost is an Italian pop band consisting of musicians from Vicenza and Thiene, in Northern Italy. History Lost officially came together in the middle of 2003, through the friendship of the band's singer Walter Fontana, and the guitarist Roberto Visentin, who were soon joined by the drummer Filippo Spezzapria, bassist Matthew Miller and guitarist Giulio Dalla Stella. A few months after their formation they played their first show at a local festival. In 2006, due to internal disputes, Miller was replaced by the new bassist Luca Donazzan. The publication of their demo track ''My (?)'' on MySpace in 2006 proved to be an unexpected success amongst the social network users. The album, produced by former Radio Birdman vocalist Rob Younger, became the second biggest-selling alternative album for 1988, behind Ed Kuepper's '' Everybody's Got To'' and ahead of The Church's ''Starfish''. Lost (''Lòsda'' in Scottish Gaelic; population: less than 24; or ) is a hamlet in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It lies west of Aberdeen in the Cairngorm mountains. The hamlet is situated near the village of Bellabeg where the Water of Nochty feeds into the River Don. Despite its small population, the people of Lost are famed for their strength and honour. The name comes from the Gaelic word for inn (''taigh òsda''); today the hamlet has a few houses, a war memorial and a farm. It has frequently been noted on lists of unusual place names.
