Betty Liste is an American jazz pianist. She performs regularly in New York and New Jersey, and has worked with jazz musicians such as Ted Curson (who is on her first recording) and Richie Cole and jazz vocalist Bill Robinson. Liste's style falls into the modern mainstream of jazz. Early years Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Liste studied as a youth with jazz pianist Kenny Barron. She made her professional debut performing at Gulliver's and Three Sisters in New Jersey in 1978. The following year she began playing in small Greenwich Village clubs and has since become a consistent performer in both the New York and New Jersey jazz scenes. Wilhelm List
Wilhelm List (14 May 1880 – 17 August 1971) was a German field marshal during World War II who was convicted of war crimes by a US Army tribunal after the war. List commanded the 14th Army in the invasion of Poland and the 12th Army in the invasions of France, Yugoslavia and Greece. In 1941 he commanded the German forces in Southeast Europe responsible for the occupation of Greece and Yugoslavia. In July 1942 during Case Blue, the German summer offensive in Southern Russia, he was appointed commander of Army Group A, responsible for the main thrust towards the Caucasus and Baku. Following the war, List was charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity and stood trial in the Hostages Trial of 1947. He was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. List was released early for poor health and died in 1971. Maximilian List (9 February 1910 – 1980) was an architect in Berlin who became an SS officer, involved in the operation of a number of Nazi concentration camps. SS-Hauptsturmführer (Captain) List moved from the Neuengamme concentration camp to become the commandant of Lager Sylt, a labour camp on Alderney. He commanded SS-Baubrigade I, arriving on the island on 23 February 1943. The camp housed the foreign workers for the Organization Todt which was building fortifications on the island. List had a chalet built in the style of Adolf Hitler’s Berghof outside the camp perimeter, with an underground passage linking it with the camp. This building was later moved to another part of the island. List later took full control of another camp, Lager Norderney. In June 1943, workers were being deported back to Neuengamme, probably to be exterminated, but fled, and a disciplinary enquiry against him took place in September 1943.
