Kuwait At The 2012 Summer Olympics

This was the nation's twelfth consecutive appearance at the Olympics. On May 24, the International Olympic Committee announced that Kuwaiti athletes would compete under the Olympic flag, as Independent Olympic Athletes, at the Olympics due to two-year suspension of the Kuwait Olympic Committee. On July 14, Kuwaiti athletes were allowed to participate under their own flag, after the suspension was lifted. Kuwait Olympic Committee sent a total of 10 athletes to the Games, 8 men and 2 women, to compete in 4 different sports. Trap shooter Fehaid Al-Deehani, who participated at his sixth Olympics as the team's most experienced member, reprised his role to be Kuwait's flag bearer at the opening ceremony. Kuwait Olympic Committee ( ar, اللجنة الأولمبية الكويتية, IOC code: KUW) is the National Olympic Committee representing Kuwait and organising the Kuwait Olympic team. 2010–2012 suspension The International Olympic Committee imposed a suspension on the committee with effect from 1 January 2010 due to government legislation that permits the state to interfere in elections of sporting organisations. The government had failed to meet the IOC's 31 December 2009 deadline for amending the legislation. As a result, Kuwait was barred from receiving IOC funding and its athletes and officials were banned from Olympic Games and Olympic meetings. At the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, the 2010 Asian Games, and the 2011 Asian Winter Games, Kuwaiti athletes competed as independent athletes in a team named "Athletes from Kuwait" (code: IOC) under the Olympic Flag. Paul Drinkhall
Paul Andrew Drinkhall (born 16 January 1990) is a British table tennis player. He won the English Championship in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2017. Career Drinkhall was born in Middlesbrough. His career in table tennis started in 1997 when he went along to watch his grandfather Ray play in a local league near his home. He enjoyed much success as a youngster, winning numerous national championships at his age level, and at levels above his own age. This success did not go unnoticed, as he was shortlisted for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2005, and finished in second place after Theo Walcott in 2006. He was again shortlisted for this award in 2007. He once again finished in 2nd place in 2007. Saheed Idowu (born 3 January 1990 in Brazzaville) is a Congolese table tennis player. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's singles, but was defeated in the preliminary round. 2018 ITTF African-Cup Idowu competed in the 2018 ITTF African-Cup, placing second in group 2 behind Quadri Aruna, dropping the group match to Aruna (1-3),allowing him to qualify for the Quarter Finals.
