Kjell Aukrust
Kjell Aukrust (19 March 1920 – 24 December 2002) was a Norwegian author, poet, artist and humorist. Aukrust is principally known for his Flåklypa stories and Flåklypa drawings. Personal life Aukrust was born in Alvdal in Hedmark, Norway as a son of Lars Olsen Aukrust (1886–1965) and Louise Walmsnæss (1887–1973). His father was rector at Storsteigen Agricultural School in Alvdal. He was a nephew of poet Olav Aukrust, brother of Odd Aukrust, a noted economist who was responsible for research at Statistics Norway. He was married to Kari Holter in 1947. He trained at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry 1938–42. In 1939, one of his drawings was accepted at the Autumn Exhibition in Oslo. His memoirs of his childhood in Alvdal appeared in the series of three books: ''Simen'', ''Bonden'' and ''Bror Min'' published in 1958, 1964 and 1960. Olav Aukrust
Olav Aukrust (21 January 1883 – 3 November 1929) was a Norwegian poet and teacher. He popularized the use of Nynorsk as a literary language and is most commonly associated with his poem ''Himmelvarden'' (1916). Biography Aukrust was born in the parish of Lom in Oppland, Norway. He was raised in the traditional region of Gudbrandsdal. His parents Olav Olavsson Aukrust (1851–1931) and Mari Pålsdatter Andvord (1864–1936) were farmers on the Nordgard Aukrust farm in the valley of Bøverdalen. His brother Lars Olsen Aukrust (1886–1965) was a teacher and local official. His nephews Odd Aukrust (1915 –2008) was an economist and Kjell Aukrust (1920–2002) was an author, poet and artist. Aukrust was a student of the folk college at Romundgard in Sel operated by priest and educator Christopher Bruun (1839–1920). Lars Olsen Aukrust
Lars Olsen Aukrust (2 October 1886 – 10 January 1965) was a Norwegian farmer and politician for the Agrarian Party. He was born at Aukrust in Lom as a son of farmers Olav Olsen Aukrust (1851–1931) and Marit Paalsdatter Andvord (1864–1936). He took education at Storhove Agricultural School in 1907 and the Norwegian College of Agriculture in 1911. He was a teacher at Østfold Folk High School from 1911 to 1913, county agronomist in Nordre Østerdalen from 1914 to 1917 and manager of Storteigen Agricultural School in Alvdal from 1918 to 1945. He was a consultant for the Royal Norwegian Society of Development from 1917 to 1918, later a board member from 1934 to 1945. He also chaired the Norwegian Agrarian Association branch in Alvdal, and was a national board member. Reuben Garrett Lucius Goldberg (July 4, 1883 – December 7, 1970), known best as Rube Goldberg, was an American cartoonist, sculptor, author, engineer, and inventor. Goldberg is best known for his popular cartoons depicting complicated gadgets performing simple tasks in indirect, convoluted ways. The cartoons led to the expression " Rube Goldberg machines" to describe similar gadgets and processes.
