Keebles Hut
Keebles Hut is an alpine hut located in New South Wales, Australia. It is located in the Geehi flats area, north of Dead Horse Gap and a short walk from the main Geehi Hut Geehi Hut, also known as the Nankervis Hut or Airstrip Hut, is an alpine hut located in south-eastern New South Wales, Australia. The hut was built in 1942 by Snowy Miller, Alex Milovitch, Arthur Keeble and Dr Hubert Smith for Arthur and Flo Nankervis as a fishing lodge. It was constructed of River rocks in a similar fashion to Geehi Hut and YHA Hut. The hut was resumed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service in 1970. A mountain hut is a building located high in the mountains, generally accessible only by foot, intended to provide food and shelter to mountaineers, climbers and hikers. Mountain huts are usually operated by an Alpine Club or some organization dedicated to hiking or mountain recreation. They are known by many names, including alpine hut, mountain shelter, mountain refuge, mountain lodge, and mountain hostel. It may also be called a refuge hut, although these occur in lowland areas (e.g. lowland forests) too. Mountain huts can provide a range of services, starting with shelter and simple sleeping berths. Geehi Hut
Geehi Hut, also known as the Nankervis Hut or Airstrip Hut, is an alpine hut located in south-eastern New South Wales, Australia. History Ken Nankervis (1925-2012) and his older brother Jim built the hut for grazing and fishing in 1952. Originally at the site there were several buildings including a shed, toilet, laundry and the main house. However, the shed and laundry have been removed. Geehi Hut is often named Nankervis Hut after the brothers. In 2004, the hut was rebuilt by the Kosciusko Huts Association, with assistance from the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service, day-labourers, and the caretakers, the Land Rover Club of New South Wales and the Range Rover Club of Sydney. It was officially re-opened on Sunday 3 October 2004, with members of the Nankervis family in attendance. The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is a directorate of the New South Wales Department of Planning and Environment responsible for managing most of the protected areas in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Despite its name the NPWS is a state agency rather than a national one, with similarly named counterparts fulfilling comparable functions in other states and territories. History The NPWS was established in 1967 when the Fauna Protection Panel and the Parks and Reserves Branch of the NSW Lands Department were amalgamated under Lands Minister Tom Lewis .
