Karol Galba
Dr Karol Galba (2 February 1921 – 15 November 2009) was association football, football referee (association football), official, probably best known for being a Assistant referee (association football), linesman during the 1966 FIFA World Cup Final at Wembley Stadium (1923), Wembley Stadium. Background Galba, a Slovaks, Slovak, was an experienced referee who had officiated at the 1962 FIFA World Cup and was, in charge of the Feyenoord vs Real Madrid tie on 8 September 1965 in which he brought an end to the match early in order to avoid a mass melee after the Spanish player Vicente Miera, Miera fouled Coen Moulijn. Galba became President of the UEFA Referees' Committee when it was first instituted in 1968. He later worked as a match observer for UEFA. He received the UEFA Order of Merit in Ruby. Coen Moulijn
Coenraadt "Coen" Moulijn (15 February 1937 – 4 January 2011) was a Dutch footballer who played for Feyenoord from 1955 to 1972 and was part of their European Cup victory in 1970. Club career Compared to Stanley Matthews and Garrincha, Moulijn was considered one of the most talented leftwingers in Dutch football history. Johan Cruyff added him to his alltime favorite Dutch national team, stating that "Coen mastered one movement better than anyone: threatening to pass his opponent through the center, and then speeding past him on the other side. In association football, the referee is the person responsible for interpreting and enforcing the Laws of the Game during a match. The referee is the final decision-making authority on all facts connected with play, and is the match official with the authority to start and stop play and impose disciplinary action against players and coaches during a match. At most levels of play the referee is assisted by two assistant referees (formerly known as linesmen), who advise the referee on whether the ball leaves the playing area and any infringements of the Laws of the Game occurring outside of the view of the referee. Vicente Miera
Vicente Miera Campos (born 10 May 1940) is a Spanish retired football player and manager. A former football defender, he appeared in 139 La Liga games over ten seasons and scored two goals, mainly at the service of Real Madrid. Later, he embarked on a managerial career which lasted more than 25 years, and included a brief spell with the Spain national team. Playing career Born in the neighbourhood of Nueva Montaña in Santander, Cantabria, Miera played for two seasons (one in each major division) for hometown's Racing de Santander, moving in 1961 to Real Madrid. Never an undisputed starter safe for the 1964–65 season, he was part of the latter club's squads as they conquered seven La Liga titles, adding the European Cup in 1966. Miera moved to Sporting de Gijón in 1969, helping it promote to the top level in his first year and retiring the following season.
