Joan Gardner (born Joan Gardener, 26 October 1914 – 17 September 1999) was a British actress. Gardner was born in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. She made her stage debut immediately on leaving school and by age 18 had achieved success there. She was seen by Alexander Korda (her future brother-in-law) who signed her to a five-year film contract at London Film Productions, with ''Wedding Rehearsal'' being her film debut as one of the Roxbury twins. Gardner was married to Zoltán Korda and together they had two sons, David and Nicholas. Joan Gardner (November 16, 1926 – December 10, 1992) was an American voice actress who was most active in voice over roles. She was also a screenwriter, songwriter, author and composer. Early life She was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 16, 1926, to Jack "Jumbo" Gardner, a prominent jazz musician and Adelaide (Cline) Gardner. Career She started her career on the stage. In 1948–1949, she wrote scripts for the television programs ''Pantomime Quiz'' and ''Time For Beany''. Apart from writing scripts and books, Gardner also worked as a music composer for films. However, she was most active as an actress for radio and television animated series. Joan Gardner (born Blanche Ovens Clough on March 7, 1903, in Wichita, Sedgwick, Kansas, to Olive Oatman Smith Clough and Jeffrey Bennett Clough Jr. She died April 16, 1972, in Miami, Dade, Florida) was a Broadway actress and chorus girl in the early 20th century. She was known for being in the ''Ziegfeld Follies'' as a tall beauty standing at 5 feet 8 inches. Biography Gardner was born in Oklahoma in 1903. Gardner met actress Ina Clare while attending school at the University of Seattle where she was studying stenography and also waiting tables in Spokane, Washington. Clare told Gardner she was a "Follies type" and offered to put in a word with Florenz Ziegfeld. She then went through showgirl training, on how to walk and stand for the ''Ziegfeld Follies''. In the summer 1923, Gardner began performing with the ''Ziegfeld Follies'' on Broadway in New York.
