Isny Im Allgäu
Isny im Allgäu (, ; Low Alemannic: ''Isny im Allgai'') is a town in south-eastern Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is part of the district of Ravensburg, in the western, Württembergish part of the Allgäu region. Isny was a Free Imperial City (''Freie Reichsstadt'') until the mediatisation of 1803. History During the three centuries following its origin in 1042, it was a commercial center controlled and exploited by various competing feudal lords. In the 13th century, Isny's merchants built a fortification system to protect the town from marauders and rival feudal rulers. The town is still partially surrounded by the city walls and moat that were built during these early turbulent times. After three centuries of domination by feudal lords and territorial rulers, Isny's middle class was able to purchase the town's independence in 1365. Allgäu
The Allgäu (Standard ) is a region in Swabia in southern Germany. It covers the south of Bavarian Swabia, southeastern Baden-Württemberg, and parts of Austria. Eva Stotz (born 5 June 1979, in Isny im Allgäu) is a German documentary film maker and director. Her work primarily concerns the impact of globalization in developed and developing countries. Life and work After graduating from high school in Anna Essinger, Ulm, Eva Stotz spent a year studying French film history at the Université Paul Valéry in Montpellier. Her first 10-minute short film "L'après-midi" has been awarded several prizes at festivals. Since 2001 she has been studying directing at the German Film and Television Academy (DFFB). She directed her first feature film, "Earth in hand", on the concept of home, in 2004 in Transylvania. On the initiative of the German Development Service in 2005, she focused upon the need in Uganda to make a living in training after primary school. Peter Rohwein (born 26 June 1962 in Isny) is a West German former ski jumper who competed from 1981 to 1988. He finished sixth in the team large hill event at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. Rohwein's best individual World Cup finish was also sixth in a normal hill event in France in 1985. Rohwein coached the German Nordic combined team between 2000 and 2004, overseeing Ronny Ackermann when he won his two FIS Nordic Combined World Cup titles and a gold at the 2003 World Championships. He was coach of the German ski jumping team from 2004 until March 2008, when he was dismissed for lack of success. Germany won only one medal under Rohwein, a silver medal in the team event on the normal hill in Oberstdorf, and with two World Cup victories (one team) during the three seasons of his coaching. Hubert Netzer
Hubert Netzer (5 October 1865 in Isny im Allgäu – 15 October 1939 in Munich) was a German sculptor, medalist, and university professor. Life and work Netzer was born in 1865 in Isny im Allgäu, Kingdom of Württemberg, Germany, the son of an Allgäu gilder. In 1890 he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. At the Academy he was a student of Adolf von Hildebrand, :de:Johannes Hoffart, and Wilhelm von Rümann. Netzer taught at the Dusseldorf School of Arts and Crafts (from 1919 the Kunstakademie Dusseldorf) beginning in 1911, Netzer had made a name for himself by designing a series of fountains in Munich, among others the Tritonbrunnen in 1893, Nornenbrunnen in 1907 and the Jonasbrunnen in 1910. Franz Ehrle (17 October 1845 – 31 March 1934) was a German Jesuit priest and a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as the Archivist of the Secret Archives of the Vatican, in the course of which he became a leading agent in the revival of Thomism in the teachings of the Catholic Church. Johannes Nider ( – 13 August 1438) was a German theologian. Life Nider was born in Swabia. He entered the Order of Preachers at Colmar and after profession was sent to Vienna for his philosophical studies, which he finished at Cologne, where he was ordained. Street, Somerset
Street is a large village and civil parish in Somerset, England, with a population of 12,709 in 2021. On a dry spot in the Somerset Levels, at the end of the Polden Hills, it is southwest of Glastonbury. There is evidence of Roman occupation.
