Idoani
Idoani is a quiet small town in Ondo State of Nigeria where the Federal Government College, Idoani, is located. It is the seat of the Idoani Confederacy, a Nigerian traditional state. Idoani is under the Ose local government in Ondo state. The ruling house is composed of the Royal Families: Owusi, Sadibo, and Ologbosere royal families. The people of Idoani whose major occupation used to be farming, are peace-loving. The people speak Bini languages, some of which are different from the major Yoruba language of the south-western Nigeria. Quite a number of people still ride their bicycles to farm (a growing culture in the western world today). Idoani comprises six major quarters of Isure, Okedo street, Amusigbo, Iyayu, Isure and Ako. Idoani Confederacy
The Idoani Confederacy is a traditional state based in the town of Idoani in the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nigeria. The origins of the state date back at least to 15th century, when the Oba Ozolua "the Conqueror" (c. 1481–1504) fathered the Alani of Idoani, which he made a vassal state of the Benin Empire. Early years The present confederacy, which dates to 1880, includes six eastern Yoruba communes: Ido, Amusigbo, Isure, Iyayu, Isewa and Ako. Some of these had two concurrent rulers in the past. The communities that formed the confederacy had suffered during the 19th century wars, with many people migrating to other areas. During the struggle with the combined forces of Ijesha and Ekiti in 1879 they were forced to ask for help from Ibadan, and formed the confederacy the next year. Federal Government College, Idoani
The Federal Government College, Ido-ani, Ondo State, is a secondary institution located in Idoani, Ondo State in Nigeria. The school, like other Federal Government Colleges in Nigeria, was created by the Nigerian government as one of the federally funded "Unity schools" to bring together students from regions across Nigeria. The school has facilities for both boarding and day students. Students range from Junior Secondary One (JS1) through Senior Secondary Three (SS3). Students must complete the Federal Common Entrance Exams in order to apply for attendance. For those that lived on campus, both females and males lived in different hostels; subdivided into house colors, mainly red, green, purple, yellow and blue. While each house color consists of at least 4 room, each room is mainly occupied by those at the same class level or grade level with an addition person to manage the affairs of the room, this person would in most cases if not all, be an SS3 student. Flag Of Nigeria
Work toward freedom led to the formation of a national planning committee, which in 1958 named for a competition to choose a national flag. Thousands of designs were submitted, but the flag of equivalent green-white-green flat stripes, green stood for farming and white for unity and peace was chosen. The flag of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was designed in 1959 and first officially hoisted on 1 October 1960. The flag has three vertical bands of green, white, green. The two green stripes represent natural wealth, and the white represents peace and unity. Design The flag is an adaptation of the winning entry from Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi in a competition held in 1959. Akinkunmi was a 23-year-old student at the time he designed the flag.
