Hinduism
HINDUISM is a religion, or a way of life, widely practiced in the Indian subcontinent . Hinduism has been called the oldest religion in the world, and some practitioners and scholars refer to it as _Sanātana Dharma _, "the eternal tradition," or the "eternal way," beyond human history. Scholars regard Hinduism as a fusion or synthesis of various Indian cultures and traditions, with diverse roots and no founder. This " Hindu synthesis" started to develop between 500 BCE and 300 CE following the Vedic period (1500 BCE to 500 BCE). Although Hinduism contains a broad range of philosophies, it is linked by shared concepts, recognisable rituals, cosmology , shared textual resources , and pilgrimage to sacred sites . Hindu texts are classified into Shruti ("heard") and Smriti ("remembered"). These texts discuss theology , philosophy , mythology , Vedic yajna , Yoga , agamic rituals , and temple building , among other topics. Major scriptures include the Vedas and Upanishads , the Bhagavad Gita , and the Agamas . Sources of authority and eternal truths in its texts play an important role, but there is also a strong Hindu tradition of the questioning of this authority, to deepen the understanding of these truths and to further develop the tradition

Advaita Vedanta
_ADVAITA VEDANTA_ ( IAST , _ Advaita Vedānta_; Sanskrit
Sanskrit
: अद्वैत वेदान्त, literally, _not-two _) is a school of Hindu
Hindu
philosophy and religious practice , and one of the classic Indian paths to spiritual realization. The term _Advaita_ refers to its idea that the soul (true Self, Atman ) is the same as the highest metaphysical Reality
Reality
( Brahman ). The followers of this school are known as Advaita Vedantins, or just Advaitins, and they seek spiritual liberation through acquiring vidyā (knowledge) of one's true identity as Atman, and the identity of Atman and Brahman. Advaita Vedanta traces its roots in the oldest Upanishads . It relies on three textual sources called the Prasthanatrayi . It gives "a unifying interpretation of the whole body of Upanishads", the _Brahma Sutras _, and the _ Bhagavad Gita _. Advaita Vedanta is the oldest extant sub-school of Vedanta , which is one of the six orthodox (_āstika_) Hindu
Hindu
philosophies (_darśana_). Though its roots trace back to the 1st millennium BCE, the most prominent exponent of the Advaita Vedanta is considered by the tradition to be 8th century scholar Adi Shankara

Vishishtadvaita
VISHISHTADVAITA ( IAST _Viśiṣṭādvaita_ ; Sanskrit : विशिष्टाद्वैत) is one of the most popular schools of the Vedanta school of Hindu philosophy . Vedanta literally means the _end of the Vedas ._ _VishishtAdvaita_ (literally "Advaita with uniqueness; qualifications") is a non-dualistic school of Vedanta philosophy. It is non-dualism of the qualified whole, in which Brahman alone exists, but is characterized by multiplicity. It can be described as qualified monism or qualified non-dualism or attributive monism . It is a school of Vedanta philosophy which believes in all diversity subsuming to an underlying unity. Ramanuja , the main proponent of Vishishtadvaita philosophy contends that the Prasthanatrayi ("The three courses"), namely the Upanishads , the Bhagavad Gita , and the Brahma Sutras are to be interpreted in a way that shows this unity in diversity, for any other way would violate their consistency. Vedanta Desika defines _Vishishtadvaita_ using the statement, _Asesha Chit-Achit Prakaaram Brahmaikameva Tatvam :_ Brahman , as qualified by the sentient and insentient modes (or attributes), is the only reality
