Hedwig Wangel (1875–1961) was a German stage and film actress. Life and career Born as Amalie Pauline Hedwig Simon on September 23, 1875, in Berlin in the German Empire, Hedwig Wangel was the daughter of a music publisher. After studying acting with Max Grube, she made her theatrical debut in 1893 in ''Urania''. Following performances for the remainder of the decade in theaters across Germany, during which she was a member of Max Reinhardt's Deutsches Theater, she then toured England during 1901 and 1902 and the Netherlands during 1902 and 1903, when she retired suddenly, began to provide care for homeless men and women, and assisted the Salvation Army and the Berliner Prisoner Association. Launching her own production company in 1925, she returned to films with the studio UFA the following year. Helen Von Münchofen
Helen von Münchofen (often spelt Helen von Muenchhofen) (1904–1956) was a Danish-German film actress. She was born in Copenhagen, but later moved to Germany, where she embarked on a career in films. She played a small part in Fritz Lang's ''Metropolis'' in 1927, but then gained more substantial roles in silent films of the late 1920s. Following the Nazi rise to power in 1933 she returned to Denmark, where she appeared in Pál Fejös's ''The Golden Smile'' (1935). Her daughter, Helen von Münchofen became an actress as well. Her granddaughter Suzanne Doucet, is an actress, musician, singer and composer. Oskar Leopold Karlweis (often credited Oscar Karlweis; 10 July 1894 – 24 January 1956) was an Austrian-American stage and film actor, active internationally. Career Born in Hinterbrühl, Austria-Hungary, he was the son of playwright Carl Karlweis and younger brother of the writer . Maria Forescu
Maria Forescu (15 January 1875 28 October 1947) was an Austro-Hungarian-born Romanian opera singer and film actress. During the silent and talkies era of the German cinema, she appeared in several movies as a supporting actress. When Adolf Hitler came to power, Forescu, like other Jews of that period, was barred from her profession. Living undercover during the later years of World War II, she survived the Holocaust and died in 1947 in East Berlin. Biography Forescu was born Maria Füllenbaum on 15 January 1875, in Czernowitz, Austria-Hungary. She attended a boarding school in Paris. She studied singing, music and drama at the Prague Conservatory.
